How to tape a set.
-
Cleanse first
Clean the natural lashes and the eye area before any tape goes on.
-
Hold the lower lashes
Tape the bottom lashes down, so they stay clear of the glue.
-
For a UV set, cover the lids
Place the under-eye patches, black first and white on top. Then cover the lids with three layers of black tape, 1 mm back from the lash line.
-
Lift gently
At the end of the set, lift the tape and the patches gently.
For trained lash artists. The full UV set, step by step, is on the Beautibeam system page.

Tape and patches
What goes where.
They do different jobs, and a UV set uses both.
| Feature | Lash tape | Under-eye patches |
|---|---|---|
| Lower lashes | Holds them down, clear of the glue | Cover them, and the skin under the eye |
| Lids, in a UV set | Three layers of black tape, 1 mm back from the lash line | Not used on the lids |
| Under the eye, in a UV set | Not used under the eye | A black patch first, a white one on top |
| Colour | Black for UV sets, white for regular sets | Black for UV sets |
| Sold as | One roll | 50 pieces, in pairs |
For trained lash artists. In a regular set, use what you normally use under the eye. See the black under-eye patches.
Lash tape, answered.
What is lash tape used for?
To hold the lower lashes out of the way during a lash extension set, and to cover the eyelids. In a UV set, black tape and black under-eye patches keep the lamp's light off the client's skin, so only the lash line sees it.
What tape do lash artists use?
A tape that holds through a full set and lifts off gently from the skin around the eye. Ours is a silicone tape, sold by the roll, in black and in white.
Black or white: which do I need?
Black for UV sets: it keeps the lamp's light off the lids. White for regular sets.
Do I use tape or under-eye patches?
In a UV set, both: tape on the lower lashes, patches under the eyes, then black tape over the lids. In a regular set, use what you normally use under the eye.
How do you tape eyes for lash extensions?
Cleanse first. Tape the lower lashes down, so they stay clear of the glue. For a UV set, place the under-eye patches, black first and white on top, then cover the lids with three layers of black tape, 1 mm back from the lash line. Lift everything gently at the end of the set.
What can I use instead of lash tape?
For the lower lashes, under-eye patches do a similar job: they cover the lashes and keep them out of the glue. For the lids in a UV set, use black tape: it is what keeps the lamp's light off the skin.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
It is made for the skin around the eye and lifts off gently.
