Working for yourself

The sum for a self-employed lash artist.

A wage table covers employees. If you rent a chair or lash from home, four lines decide what you keep.

  1. Your prices

Salon price lists we looked at in Alberta and Ontario ran from $65 to $170 for a full set and from $65 to $85 for a fill. Those are examples, not averages.

  2. Your chair time

A classic full set takes 1.5 to 2 hours and a fill 45 to 90 minutes. That sets how many clients a day holds.

  3. Your costs

Rent or a booth fee, supplies, insurance, booking software and tax come off the top.

  4. Your supplies per client

The smallest line. One 5 mL bottle of Adhesive Max covers 70 to 100 appointments: under $1 of glue per client.
