A guide for lash artists
Lash glue and humidity.
Regular lash extension glue sets with the moisture in the air, so the room decides how fast it sets. Here is what a dry room and a humid room do to your glue, the range Adhesive Pro works in, and the glue that takes humidity out of the question.
How it cures
Light, not moisture.
Regular lash glue sets when it meets moisture in the air, so the room decides how your glue behaves. Adhesive Max waits for light instead. It sets when a UV LED lamp shines on it, so you decide.
Regular lash glue
Sets with moisture.
Humidity and temperature change the speed. Too dry and it is slow. Too humid and it dries before the lash is placed.

Adhesive Max
Sets with light.
A second of light from a small UV LED lamp starts the bond. The same result in January and in July.

The room and the glue
What humidity does to regular glue.
The same bottle behaves differently in January and in July. Three things to know, and one to do.
-
Too dry
The glue sets slowly. A placed lash can shift before it holds, and lashes are more likely to stick to their neighbours.
-
Too humid
The glue dries before the lash is seated, so the set does not hold as long as it should.
-
Temperature too
Cooler air slows the glue down and warmer air speeds it up, the same way humidity does.
-
Measure it
A hygrometer by your tray shows humidity and temperature, so you can match your pace to them or change the room.
Adhesive Pro
The range a good regular glue works in.
A moisture-cured glue takes its speed from the air around it. Adhesive Pro works across a wide range of humidity and temperature, and is at its best in the middle of it.
Humidity
55–65%
Works from 40 to 80%. Drier air slows it down, more humid air speeds it up.
Temperature
22–24°C
Works from 20 to 30 °C. Cooler air slows it down, warmer air speeds it up.
A hygrometer by your tray shows both, so you can match your pace to them.

Through the year
Winter and summer.
A Canadian lash room goes from dry, heated air in winter to humid air in summer. Read the hygrometer at the start of every set, not once a season.
Winter
Heated air is dry air.
The reading can fall below a regular glue's range, and the glue sets slowly. Add moisture to the room before you change your glue.

Reading the signs
How to tell the room is off.
A regular glue shows you the room before the hygrometer does. What each sign usually means, and what to change first.
| Feature | Most likely cause | What to change first |
|---|---|---|
| The lash slides, or needs holding before it grips | The room is too dry or too cool, so the glue sets slowly | Add moisture or warmth until the reading is inside your glue's range |
| Lashes stick to their neighbours | A slow-setting glue in a dry room, or too large a dip | Bring the humidity up and take smaller dips |
| The glue grips before the lash is seated | The room is too humid or too warm | Take moisture out of the room and take smaller dips |
| A white film on the bond | The glue met too much moisture at once and set too fast | Bring the humidity down into your glue's range |
| The drop thickens or strings within minutes | Humid air, or a drop that has been out too long | Put out a fresh drop and close the bottle between drops |
| It held on the day, but retention is short | The set was done outside the glue's range, or the bottle is past its life | Read the hygrometer during the set, then check the date the bottle was opened |
| Nothing helps, whatever the reading | The bottle has aged | Change the bottle: Adhesive Pro keeps for 3 months once opened, or 1 month in daily use |
The usual causes with a regular, moisture-cured glue. Clean lashes matter as much as the room: the retention checklist.
The bottle
When the problem is the glue itself.
Not every glue problem is the room. Four that start in the bottle or on the lashes, and what to do about each.
| Feature | Most likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Thick or stringy in the bottle | The glue has aged, or air got in | Change the bottle. Nothing added to it makes it thin again |
| The nozzle is blocked | Glue left to set on the tip | Wipe the nozzle after every drop and close the cap tight. A bottle that will not flow is past its best |
| Lashes will not stick at all | Oil, make-up or residue on the natural lashes | Cleanse again, and use primer sparingly, as the last prep step |
| The drop looks uneven | The bottle was not shaken | Shake for 30 seconds before use, cap off, with a nozzle wipe folded over the tip |
Your room
What to do about it.
-
Dry room
Add moisture with a humidifier until the reading is inside your glue's range, and keep heating from blowing across the tray.
-
Humid room
Take moisture out with a dehumidifier or air conditioning, and work with smaller dips.
-
Fresh drop
Replace the glue drop as it thickens. An old drop sets badly in any room.
-
Fresh bottle
Adhesive Pro keeps for 3 months once opened, or 1 month in daily use. Past that, change the bottle before you change the room.
Or work with a glue that does not depend on the room: UV lash glue or regular glue: what changes.
The other way
Take humidity out of it.
A UV lash glue does not set with moisture. Adhesive Max stays liquid until a UV LED lamp shines on it, then sets in 0.5 to 1 second, so the room no longer sets your pace. It needs a lamp and a covering routine for every set.

“This sweet hot yoga instructor came to us today for some natural looking lash extensions. She has struggled with them, due to the humidity in the hot yoga room.
We did a hybrid, cateye set tonight with our Beautibeam technology. Her lashes are instantly cured, meaning they will withstand the moisture while she runs her classes.”
“She is vacation ready with fully cured lash adhesive due to our newest Beautibeam technology! Have you tried this yet ? It’s a lash game changer and perfect for lash sets right before tropical vacations.”
Questions
Humidity and lash glue, answered.
What is a good humidity level for lash extensions?
It depends on the glue. Most regular lash glues are made for 40 to 60% humidity and 20 to 23 °C. Adhesive Pro works from 40 to 80% and 20 to 30 °C, and is at its best from 55 to 65% and 22 to 24 °C.
Does humidity affect lash glue?
Yes, a regular lash glue sets with the moisture in the air. Drier air slows it down and more humid air speeds it up. A UV lash glue sets under a lamp, so humidity does not set its pace.
Does humidity affect lash retention?
Yes. A regular glue that sets too slowly or too fast makes a weaker bond, and a weaker bond means poorer retention. Inside its working range, Adhesive Pro holds for 7 to 8 weeks with correct application and aftercare.
What lash glue is best for high humidity?
One whose working range reaches your room's reading. Of the 12 regular glues we read that publish a humidity range, none goes above 75%. Adhesive Pro works up to 80%. Adhesive Max, a UV glue, sets under the lamp in any humidity.
What lash glue is good for low humidity?
Below 40% a regular glue slows down, Adhesive Pro included: add moisture to the room first. Adhesive Max, a UV glue, does not depend on humidity.
Why is my lash glue not drying?
Most often the room is too dry or too cool for the glue, or the bottle is past its life. Check the hygrometer, then the bottle's age: Adhesive Pro keeps for 3 months once opened, or 1 month in daily use.
Why does my lash glue dry so fast?
Most often the room is humid or warm, so the glue sets before the lash is seated. Bring the room back into your glue's range, or take smaller dips and place faster.
Is 70% humidity too high for lash extensions?
For many regular glues, yes: they are made for 40 to 60%. Adhesive Pro works up to 80%, though above 65% it sets faster than at its best.
Should I use different lash glues in different seasons?
Many lash artists do, because a heated winter room and a humid summer room can sit outside one glue's range. The other way is a UV glue, which sets the same in both.
What temperature should a lash room be?
Most regular lash glues that state a temperature ask for about 20 to 23 °C. Adhesive Pro works from 20 to 30 °C and is at its best from 22 to 24 °C. Cooler air slows a regular glue down and warmer air speeds it up.
Is a humidifier or a dehumidifier better for a lash room?
It depends on the reading. Below your glue's range, a humidifier. Above it, a dehumidifier or air conditioning. A hygrometer by your tray tells you which.
How long does lash extension glue take to dry?
Adhesive Pro dries in about 1 second inside its working range, and most regular glues state 1 to 2 seconds. Outside the range the time changes: slower in dry or cool air, faster in humid or warm air. Adhesive Max sets in 0.5 to 1 second under the lamp, in any humidity.
How do I get lash glue to dry faster?
With a regular glue, more humidity and more warmth both speed it up, so bring the room towards the middle of the glue's range: Adhesive Pro is at its best from 55 to 65% and 22 to 24 °C. With Adhesive Max, bring the lamp closer and check its angle.
How often should lash glue be replaced?
The bottle: Adhesive Pro keeps for 3 months once opened, and we advise a new bottle every month if you lash every day. Most makers of regular glue say about 4 weeks after opening. The drop on your ring: replace it as soon as it thickens.
Does lash glue dry out?
Yes. Air left in the bottle and glue left on the nozzle both age it. Squeeze out the air and wipe the nozzle before you close the bottle, and store it upright in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight.
Can you thin lash glue?
No. A glue that has thickened has aged, and nothing added to the bottle brings it back. Put out a fresh drop, and if the glue in the bottle has thickened, change the bottle.
Why is my lash glue not sticking?
Most often the natural lashes are not clean: oil, make-up and residue are what break a bond. Cleanse again and use primer sparingly. If the lashes are clean, check the room, then the bottle's age.
How do I unclog a lash glue bottle?
Wipe the nozzle after every drop so glue does not set on the tip, and close the cap tight. A bottle that no longer flows has aged: change it.
My retention dropped. What should I check first?
The room first: humidity and temperature, both in range during the set. Then the bottle: shaken, inside its opened life, stored upright with the air squeezed out. Then the lashes: cleaned, rinsed and primed sparingly. If it still does not hold, write to us with your room's readings.
Does humidity matter with UV lash glue?
Not for the cure. Adhesive Max sets under the lamp in any humidity and at any temperature. Of the 11 UV lash glues whose pages we read, 7 say the same of theirs and none gives a humidity range. UV lash glue or regular glue: what changes
